Sausalito Succulents

Our studio has been cutting, potting and growing a our little garden of succulents. We will be offering them at local markets starting this summer.

Caring for your Succulents:

If coastal succulents can grow in a rock crevice, surviving on dew, certainly you can keep one alive at home!
Our plants are propagated in a local gardens then potted in soil for succulents. Succulents will be happiest if kept near a sunny window if you plan to keep them as house plants. How much water your plant needs depends on how dry or humid the air is. Since the plants retain a lot of water, it is better to give them less water than too much. We recommend spritzing with water about 2 times per week, just dampening the top of the soil to keep your succulent hydrated.

Do not soak the soil with water.
In the natural habitat, succulents live in dry, and often sandy soil. They can do this because the plants retain a lot of water, like cacti. In pots that don't drain, soil holds quite a bit of moisture. If your plant becomes a little squishy it may be a sign the roots are rotting from too much water.

Ir this happens, don't fret. You can start over!
You can usually save the plant; cut off the root, let the end dry out before re-potting, and it will grow new roots!
